Pistachio is known as the 'happy tree' because it looks like it's smiling! It comes from from Ancient Greek πιστάκιον (pistachio), from πιστάκη (pistake, 'pistachio tree'). These wonderfully delicious pistachio nuts have long been cherished as the symbol of wellness and robust health since ancient times where it was well known that 'a handful of pistachio nuts a day could protect your heart'.
Pistachios grow well under the Greek hot and dry summer and the cool winters. These they are currently being cultivated on a larger scale in Megara, Greece with respect to the environmental Greek and European legislation.
